Since February 24, our lives have been dominated by bewilderment and horror – the war in Ukraine has shaken the world. Russia’s war of aggression, which violates international law and which we are currently experiencing, represents a turning point that previously seemed unimaginable. A special peace talk on the war in Ukraine was held as a livestream to provide an academic perspective on the situation in Ukraine and shed light on the events and consequences. Renowned academics from the University of Osnabrück and the University of Münster looked at the historical roots of the conflict and how the two countries see themselves, as well as the global impact and effectiveness of the sanctions. The topics of flight and migration and the role of Germany were also examined. The unscheduled panel discussion was moderated by the University President, Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl.
