“Future” – this is the theme of the month of October in the 375th anniversary year of the Peace of Westphalia. With this in mind, the Peace Talks in cooperation with the Round Table of Religions Germany will address key questions concerning the future of Europe and the role of religions.
Can religions create peace in Europe and is this possible in close cooperation with politics and society? What significance can religions have in the future and what should be the relationship between state and religion? Should they take on social, educational and socio-political tasks, for example in political parties and parliaments, in the healthcare system, in schools and education, in the world of work, in security and migration policy?
These and other questions were discussed by Sonya Zayneb Ouertani, Senior Fellow at Humanity in Action, Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, former President of the EU Parliament. Christian Wulff, former Federal President of Germany, and representatives of the Round Table of Religions Germany.
The panel discussion was also the closing event of the annual conference of the Round Table of Religions in Germany, which took place in Osnabrück this year.
