In recent decades, fundamental criticism of science has increased enormously: This disturbing development was particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, in attacks on science in the context of the spread of various conspiracy theories or even the banning of the teaching of the theory of evolution in individual countries. Many scientists who conduct research on certain topics and are present in the media experience hostility and hatred. On the other hand, science is also appropriated by the pharmaceutical, tobacco and raw materials industries for their own interest-driven studies. During the event, we want to address this area of tension, talk about the reasons for and consequences of science denial and manipulation and, in particular, explore the question of how the scientific system can defend itself against these attacks or enslavement.
Registration for the event is not required.
