50 years of Osnabrück University
Osnabrück University will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2024. This special occasion will be celebrated with a colourful and varied programme to which the general public is also cordially invited. Many exciting details and all information about the planned activities can be found on the anniversary website: www.uos.de/50jahre
The Osnabrück Peace Forum is accompanying the university anniversary with various events focussing in particular on the importance of free research and science as a central pillar of our democracy. This also brings another anniversary into the spotlight: the 75th anniversary of our Basic Law. A wonderful opportunity to focus on central elements of our liberal democratic society, including the freedom of research and the right to education.
Solidarity with Ukraine
The Osnabrück Peace Forum is deeply shocked and stunned by Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. This reprehensible violation of international law represents a turning point that we did not think possible. Our solidarity and sympathy go out to the people of Ukraine. Our thoughts are with them!
In order to scientifically classify the situation and shed light on the events and consequences, a special peace talk on the war in Ukraine took place as a livestream on March 7, 2022 at 6 pm.
